ANYONE can install this EASY SPRINKLER SYSTEM. DIY!
DIY smart sprinkler system that can be installed on an existing sprinkler system easily in an afternoon. Irrigreen makes sprinkler installation a snap. Get your shovel don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. After seeing how my lawn has done, my neighbor wanted the same results on his lawn.
You don't need to be an expert to install this system. The most time consuming is part is digging the lines. This retrofit utilizes an old in place system that was inefficient, it used roughly 40 heads through the whole lawn and those were replaced by 3 Irrigreen heads.
Check out this video if you want to see real water savings with this system.

BACK to Lawn BASICS! NO MORE ELECTRIC LAWN EQUIPMENT
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.2 часа назад
I'm going back to lawn basics (or basic lawn care?) and ditching my electric lawn equipment for good. I have sold, given away or tossed out all of my toro 60V tools and have replaced them with gas equipment from Stihl and Husqvarna. I have also retired my automower (robomower) and am only using my gas lawn mower this year. Why? Power. Easy power with out a limit on how long I can run it. My law...

I saved hundreds doing this and I'm shocked at how well it worked. This year I've been testing out lawn dyes, paints, glues and other odd items this year to see how they look and how effective they are at solving problems. This black mulch dye from Petra is pretty freaking great. Black Mulch Dye amzn.to/4c2tJ3M It usually costs between 1100-1600.00 just to "refresh" all of my mulch beds. it's n...

EXPERTS say this makes grass GREEN. DOES SUGAR ON THE LAWN WORK?
Nice work brother. Can’t beat the power of the gas big John..👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸
JP, you need to get a Darwin Grip for your Sthil. Its a game changer for us tall guys. Saves on the back!!
Yes I do
Really contemplating lining the front of my beds with a few heads to take care of watering the front yard… 🤔
Middle of the lawn. They do full rotations
Some states have banned the use and sale of gas-powered lawn equipment. If E powered tools had the same HP and torque equivalent, I would consider it. Someone is making $$$ with the overpriced E tools. I do have an EGO leaf blower and love it, but a battery replacement is over $200 ridiculous.
The Hudson star is the ultimate mower for those states
Sending positive vibes to everyone reading this! May your day be filled with joy and success
It’s nice but way to expensive in my opinion
Here, the cost of water is way too much and the price to go over your flat usage rate is insane. I will have the retail price of my system paid for in 3 seasons.
That's great I have to switch one day
Wouldn’t it be best-practice to have a master valve? Limit the wear and tear due to pressure (including fluctuations) on a single valve, rather than the expensive valves?
Master valve is an option for sure. I fact you could do that with these the way it was setup. Basically just have that valve kick on at run time via the old programming
I have a master valve on my irrigreen system. Glad I did that!
Any more news on the development of nozzles built more for seeding? Heard it was being designed but nothing more than that
I haven’t heard.
How would seeding require different? Just trying to learn
The streams just seem quite powerful that it might wash out some, especially close to the nozzle
@@andrewc1717 yes that could happen for sure
$750 for software and weather motoring for 3 years is insane; Oto Lawn Sprinkler offers the same for free. I pay $99 a year for my Tesla connectivity and I get some crazy updates, like new games and features or completely off the ground UI. For the $99 I also get traffic data, internet connectivity and I can even watch Netflix from anywhere. Irrigreen needs to get rid of that charge to make the price appealing and competitive.
I don’t have that subscription. I just use it as is.
@@Lawncology Right now if you add a system and go to check out page, they change the price of the controller to $800ish and they add $750 as a 3 year software, updates and monitoring. Maybe it is for tax purposes or something otherwise $1500 for a controller is insanity. The sad part is that there is no way to remove that $750 software charge.
@@juanmedinar20 I honestly can’t answer that from experience, like all things, the more these sell and get widely adopted the lower the price gets.
very cool concept, i have had my system for about 5 years now, i cant see spending $3500 to upgrade my system at this point... i do like what you are doing with your lawn and the neighbors
I don’t know how many people would do this the way we’ve done it. I can tell you that our two homes together are going to safe a crazy amount of water this year
That existing system was very poorly designed. That's an insane amount of heads and valves
Super old and kept failing. We’ve been tinkering with it for years. He had a landscaper tell him he would redo his system, I jumped in before that.
John have you heard of the OtO smart sprinkler yet. I have one and it’s pretty good if you can’t install a full blown system. I’m using it differently than they intend but it’s been good so far. Maybe you would like to try one out?
Yes I have and I think there’s a tool for everyone’s needs. I personally don’t like the need to leave it on a running hose, I feel like that’s the highest chance of leakage and waste. I know they do well in small areas, and I think this type of programmable spray patterns is going to be adopted by the industry.
@@Lawncology I actually put mine out and take it in after watering. Not how it’s intended to be used but it works well and cut down on waste. Only issue now is if it’s windy. I created 5 zones for my 3000 sq/ft lawn and then put it in the same exact location each time so it precisely waters my previously created zone with no overspray. They generously sent me extra base plates so it gets put in the same location every time. I just got so tired of money running into the storm drain being on public water.
@@TheFenstyy I feel you. I used to watch water run down the side of my property on a stream. That has completely stopped
@@Lawncology Yep, matter of time before the big boys Hunter and Rain Bird come out with their own iterations of smart sprinklers. We need it out West.
Look up the Oasa R1, and thank me later.
Seen it
Dead dinosaurs for the win, because batteries and electric don’t grow on trees.
Welcome back to the dark side...
It's a comfortable space for me...
the old oil+gas mix two stroke string trimmer I used to have was the most miserable piece of lawn equipment I've ever owned and tried to use ...however now my battery one is a beast, and I was just joking that if our home is ever invaded I'd grab that thing over any other tool in the garage to dish out some serious pain and injury now yes, my battery mower and leaf blower I will say are a little wimpy compared to gas(altho much easier to use, maintain, get 'fuel' for, and store - plus do the job just fine for what I need and are ready to go instantly at the push of a button) but for some reason beyond my understanding the string trimmer and bush cuter, which use the same battery, are just monsters when it comes to power and always feel kinda overkill even on pretty tough jobs
I had so many problems with my toro electric leaf blower that I never want to touch the stuff again!
Glad to see you getting away from girlie battery toys.
Toys for sure
I miss the views from that back yard. See you at Equip in October.
Yeah man! let me know if youre out this way again and I have some flex 21 questions for you
Yeah, fortunately I was not willing to go battery because a-my business sometimes requires more force ( power)to remove invaders--I think if people live on more than a 1/4 acre suburban lot, this is generally applicable) and B- i just dont think the battery tech is ready and C- slave labor for lithium and all that rot and D- i like that some humans near me can repair and refurb gas engines..just in case ( I'm silly like that) Shoot. Thats prolly not politically correct, is it? Its why i never generally go there. Sorry. 😢
The lawn looks GORGEOUS !
Thank you
Feel you on the electric stuff brother. Only piece of equipment for me is the battery sprayer. Lawn is looking 🔥 did that tester ever go out?
Which tester? Dis I forget something?
@@Lawncology you had me email you… the granular and whatever Pete was trying there.
@@Bkennedy84 right. I have to double check what we have left right now. I sent a bunch out. I think we may have a few bags left
@@Lawncology thank you. Last time we brought it up was when you were headed to GA.
Living in SE WI haven’t had to water. We’ve been getting 2 inches almost every week since April.
That’s nice.
@@Lawncology granted expecting a 4th tornado warning tonight in the are over the last few weeks. It’s been a hell of a ride.
@@stump1897 a shit!
Looking good John. I actually brought my ProVista KBG up to 1" from 3/4" after going to Yankee Stadium last week and meeting the head groundskeeper on the field. That is the height they use so should help over the Summer. Still all battery powered here and reel mowing. Wont ever go back to gas on my small lawn
It makes sense for a lot of people!
I know it’s not cheap, but I love my Milwaukee mower and trimmer. Needs two sets of batteries if the grass is long, but tons of power.
That’s cool
What type of grass are you cutting at 2.25?
This is KBG
Looks great, Johnny!!👍👍😁
Thanks Johnny!
In the heat is summer 106+ am I ok to apply microgreene? Watered in? I’d apply in morning when it’s only 80…🥵
Yes go for it
Why is it when my dog pees the grass gets very dark and yours dies?
You grass needs nitrogen
@@evangoshert5817 I’ve fertilized it 3 times this year already.
It’s an over load. Both the heat and the nitrate.
@@Lawncology ok. But it was almost 100 all week in Pittsburgh last week. I have dark green spots all over. I’ve fertilized 3 times this year. Does it need more nitrogen?
@@dllanzydo a soil test and find out. It also depends on your dogs diet too
you don't that much power to move a blade. your yard doesn't look that big, so not sure why you need all this length of time. I mean, you can use multiple batteries. Seems almost like a viewer grab for eyeballs.
I appreciate you viewing and commenting on the vid. This is just a post on my own journey through my choice in equipment. Not intended to grab eyeballs, just a communication to my growing audience.
Personal choice! I prefer gas and my property is smaller than John's, so are my shoes. Great job John!
Shoes! 😂😂😂🤣🤣? yah he's tall. @@Blubaugh50:08
Me too brother. Went Ego… just went back. You liking the Stihl?
I absolutely love it. Fires up and goes.
Yep the electric deal is far in the future! I use a battery weed wacker but the liberals can suck air from now to whenever...
😂😂
Good looking boneheads …
Great update John! Thumbnail is 🔥
Thanks buddy!
Lol. I went the opposite and went with a robot mower. Tired of having to mow, every couple days in hot, humid Florida.
I had nothing but luck with mine and truth be told, I cut through the guide wire a few times this spring putting in my new sprinklers and decided to run with the gasser until next year and replace the wire in the fall.
So the robomower is parked for the season? Feel like I need a 1-800 number to call so someone can talk me down from reacting to the stress on the lawn right now. I’m trying to settle in and accept that summer is tough on cool-season grass especially in central Ca summer. I have made such progress w your help and converting to proper shade fescue. Boy it’s hard to watch the stress. (And yet, even stressed it looks better than last year!) Good on ya getting back to basics. A good lesson.
Heat is heat. Walk through the fire and paint it if you can’t water!
7:35 "it's pretty long at the moment" hahahaha like 1/4" is long!
It is to me! I’ve been keeping this at 1/10” the last two season. It’s a bit shaggy
I did the same went back to all gas. Electric was not cutting it for me. 😊
Puns intended
Grass looks great JP!! Dark green
Yes super dark and thick.
I’d like to learn more about this ‘GreeneForce’ (16-4-8), you spoke of. 🤔
I’ll feature it soon
JP, like you returning to the “roots” of lawn care!
Check out these roots
I’m not ready to jump on the electric yard tool train yet. Maybe in twenty years or so, if I’m still alive and able to do this shit I’ll check into it. Plastic garbage is what I see it all as now.
If I look at my history with this stuff it’s like this: I got rid of my gas mower in 2007. I went to manual reel until 2021 or 2022, I can’t remember. But I was stoked with the cut and ease at the time. It didn’t take long to see the holes. Toro went out and gave everyone lawn equipment and the push hit hard. I never took free equipment and bought it all myself so I wasn’t beholden to them. My classifieds mower is better than that toro by leaps and the stihl obviously dominates.
I've got an electric zero turn and all the hand tools. Still have the gas mower since nothing wrong with it. All work great.
Hey, John I'm starting a PGA green in a couple of weeks, rock for drainage and bentgrass will be my turf type😊
That’s fantastic! If you neglect it gets wrecked. Stay on top of feeding and cutting and probably even fungicide. I am doing monthly apps of Annew as well.
@@Lawncology john, you wouldn't happen to have a coupon code for the huson star?
Why don't you take a push broom to the green to stand things back up before cutting?
Doing that as well
Thumbnail had me worried!
;)
Well your lawn all ready looks awesome! From what i have been reading it is supposed to starve out crab grass and weeds.
I use a Flymo 800 robotic mower. No problem whatsoever. Cuts very nicely for three or four hours each day. It is not made to cut or drive into heavy grass. Charging station never a problem. Some fantastic brands out there including Landroid or if You want cable free Ambroigo or Segway.
Here in CT the humidity is off the hook. Plus I used Hydretain which adds to keeping mositure around. Lose Lose situation. I forgot to treat before the fungus showed up
So ... this means that doing manual and liquid aeration together in the spring is a good idea?
I’ve added a 4lb bag and mixed it with my 1 gallon liquid grass fertilizer…I’ve never added it dry or in such copious amounts.
